Stancombes Coming Back For Inaugural 500R Factory Stock Season

A veteran offshore racer, Micheal Stancombe and his father, George, plan to compete in all 500R Factory Stock-class National Championship series races on the American Power Boat Association schedule in 2025. Their new factory-sealed 500R Competition outboard engines have been installed on the transom of their 36-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran dubbed Peppers Racing, and they are eager to begin testing in the near future.

“I can’t wait to get back into the cockpit and throttle with my father,” Stancombe said. “We have always done well as a team. And I’m also looking forward to start testing the JBS Racing 46 Skater. (Owner) Jeff Stevenson and I always have a great time in the boat together.

“And Peppers Racing may have a new sponsor coming on board this year,” he added.

Stevenson will sub for the senior Stancombe, who has schedule obligations of his own, in the 500R Factory Stock raceboat as needed.

“The boat hauled ass when ran it with the old 500R consumer engines,” Stancombe said. “The factory-sealed 500R Competition engines should do a little better.”

He paused for a moment, then laughed.

“No one ever thought they’d see the Peppers Racing team with outboards,” he said.
