SLT Collection Showcasing Three Canados Gladiator Models In Fort Lauderdale – Speed on the Water

Starting tomorrow, Scot Conrad and the team at SLT Collection in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., are going to be on hand at the largest in-water boat show in the world, which also happens to be just down the road—the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, to show off a trio of stunning models from Canados, the highly regarded Italian boatbuilder that specializes in yachts as well as sporty and luxurious cruisers.

According to Conrad, SLT, which is the exclusive North American distributor for the Rome-based company, has three Canados Gladiator models on display, two of the 493 Grand models and an outboard-powered 431 Walk-Around.

Conrad explained that the three boats showcase the Gladiator lineup’s range of power options, as one of the 49-foot V-bottoms has twin 725-hp Volvo Penta D11 diesel engines coupled with JDM surface drives and the other is equipped with triple Mercury Marine Verado 600 V-12 outboard engines.

Both the 49-footer and the 43-footer, which has twin Verado 600 engines mounted on the transom, are the first two boats from Canados to feature Mercury’s new V-12 powerplants.

“We’ve got a great display space and we’re excited to show off the latest and greatest from Canados,” Conrad said. “I can’t wait to see everyone’s reactions at the boat show. My intention is to take the 493 Grand with the triple 600s to Key West next month for the Florida Powerboat Club’s Key West Poker Run and the Race World Offshore Key West World Championship. We’re going to be down there showing off the boat and supporting the race team. (SLT sponsors the Gladiator Canados team that competes in the 450R Factory Stock class in a 39-foot Doug Wright Powerboats catamaran.)

“We’ll be there to use the boat for hospitality purposes, provide demo rides and support the team and Michel (Karsenti, the team’s throttleman who owns Canados),” he added. “The 493 with the 600s is such a phenomenal package. It’s just so quiet, it gets on plane so easy and the dual prop has a lot of control over the boat as far as trim and the way that it holds the boat as you run.”

Conrad also explained that the two 493 models that will be at the Fort Lauderdale show differ in terms of the deck layout since he was able to provide input on modifying the design of the 49-footer. Rather than keep the traditional rear sunpad, table and outdoor kitchen area design behind the helm, Conrad opted to create a “Florida edition” of the 493 by modifying the area to include U-shape seating with a table that runs fore to aft with a bar and three barstools ahead of the table and behind the outdoor kitchen space.

He added that if anyone has any questions to come find him at the show or reach out to him or anyone on the SLT sales team by calling 954-909-5480.
