Shimano Releases Five New Jerkbait Colors
A quarter of the OTW Office is currently embroiled in a bass-fishing contest that began as a casual contest between friends has turned bitter after the current leader continually violated the excessive celebration rule. So the rest of us have been on the hunt for gear to give us an edge in the contest, and the new colors on Shimano’s their higher-end jerkbaits (one in particular) have grabbed our attention.
The Shimano World Minnow has been an office favorite since it was released a couple years ago with its Flash Boost, giving the lure the shimmering appearance of a baitfish on the pause, and its aerodynamic shape aiding in casting distance. The other premium Shimano jerkbaits getting new colors are the Zumverno SP95 and Zumverno 115SP MR. The Zumverno baits have a wide-bill design gives the jerkbait a lifelike swimming action with an erratic side-to-side darting movement and enticing body roll.
Three of the colors sound like limited edition Zyn Flavors: Jalapeno (two shades of green on the back and belly with a silver flash flank), Macchiato (Brown, Blue, and Frosted White in a realistic pattern), and Wintergreen (a bright kelly green over silver). The two others are named for baitfish: the Horned Minnow and, of the greatest interest to bass anglers in our corner of the country, Matte Perch. Young of Year perch are a major forage of Northeast bass, and often, if you can locate the big concentrations of perch, the big bass are somewhere nearby, especially this time of year.
