Low-interest disaster loans are now being made available by the Small Business Administration (SBA) to small businesses that were economically impacted by closure of the 2023 California salmon fishery from April 6 through Oct. 31, 2023. The deadline to apply is Aug. 29, 2024.

The SBA announced Dec. 7 that eligibility for assistance is based on the financial impact of the disaster only and not on any actual property damage.

California SBA centers are offering free, personalized counseling to help affected businesses recover.

The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in Alameda, Amador, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Del Norte, Humboldt, Kern, Kings, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Monterey, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Shasta, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity and Yolo counties in California.

Business owners may go to https://www.californiasbdc.org/find-your-sbdc/ to locate an SBA Development Center near them. Visitors are encouraged to call first for an appointment.
