S.S. Badger Seeks Captain for 2022 Season
The 410-foot historic S.S. Badger car ferry is currently hiring a captain for the 2022 season. Built in 1952 and named a National Historic Landmark in 2016, the S.S. Badger is the last coal-fired steamship operating on the Great Lakes, and transports passengers and vehicles on Lake Michigan between Ludington and Manitowac, Wisconsin, May through October, reports mlive.com.
The position offers a year-round salary, medical, dental, vision insurance and a 401(k), and the individual will alternate schedules with a second captain, and share authority over all aspects of the vessel at all times.
Candidates must have a master’s license of unlimited tonnage upon the Great Lakes and inland waters, and will need to pass a Coast Guard physical, drug screening and background check.
