Rollin Transport Super Cat Team To Make Shootout Offshore Race ‘Somehow, Some Way’

Following the Super Cat-class offshore racing season-opener in Marathon, Fla., last month, Rollin Transport team owner and throttleman Vinnie Diorio knew his team wouldn’t make it last weekend’s event in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Though the Wisconsin-based and Matt Jamniczky of Indiana, left with the Race World Offshore-produced event with a third-place finish with a solid third-place finish, it also departed with two engines in dire need of replacement.

Diorio also had his doubts about making it to the Shootout Offshore contest, May 30-June 1 at the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri.

Now, with one engine delivered and another on the way to Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., the ever-tenacious team-owner is optimistic about rejoining the Super Cat fleet for what will be the third event of the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series and the second event of the Powerboat P1– produced Union Internationale Motonautique Class 1 World Championship Series.

“Greg Hillmer, our crew chief, is working on putting in one new motor as we speak,” said Diorio. “We are still waiting on the second motor.

“Hopefully, it will be finished next week,” he added. “We will have a driver there and ready to haul ass to Performance Boat Center so Greg can install it.”

The first two Super Cat races this season attracted seven-boat fleets.

Said Diorio, “Somehow, some way, we’ll make it.”
