Rock The River Fun Run At Event-Record 123 Registered Boats
Organizers Pat Feldhaus, his brother, Matt, and their friend Mike Caligari knew two weeks ago that this weekend’s Rock The River Fun Run in the Cincinnati area would top 100 boats. With five days to go before registration closed, they already had that many boats signed up. But what they didn’t expect was to close registration with 123 boats committed to the Ohio River-based event benefitting the Cecil Dye Foundation, and more than a dozen would-be boat-owners waiting in the wings.

It is the largest turnout in the event’s five-year history.
“I think that the people who have been here year-in and year-out have been the best promoters of our event,” Pat Feldhaus explained. “The relationships we have built through participating in other poker runs have also had a big impact.”
The festivities start tonight at 6 p.m. with a welcome party at Lagoon Saloon in Ludlow, Ky. Heading out tomorrow at noon, tomorrow’s Mark Stark Memorial Lunch Run will set the tone for the event’s late-afternoon street party in front of Smoke Justis restaurant in nearby Covington.
Saturday’s lunch run departs Manhattan Marina for Lighthouse Marina. The roundtrip-trek will cover more than 100 miles of the Ohio River.
Hosted at the Manhattan Marina starting point, a dinner celebration with live music begins at 7 p.m.
A street party follows tomorrow’s lunch run on the Ohio River.
A 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization, the Cecil Dye Foundation assists local cancer patients with everyday living expenses.
“I think part of what draws people to Rock The River is that most people know someone, maybe in their own family, who has been affected by cancer,” Feldhaus said. “Raising money for the Cecil Dye Foundation, even through a boating event, is one way they feel they can help.”
