Roar Offshore Race Cancelation Opens Door For Poker Run
The 2025 offshore powerboat racing schedule won’t include a stop in Fort Myers Beach, Fla., this year, as previously reported on speedonthewater.com. But that won’t keep organizers Tim and Cyndee Hill from producing a local event of their own focused on Fort Myers Beach, which is still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Ian in late-September 2022.

Best known for their work with the Fort Myers Offshore group, the Hills are in the very early planning stages for the Roar Offshore Fort Myers Beach Poker Run. The couple plans to produce the event in April or May.
“We are just starting to look at logistics,” said Hill. “But we would start in the Fort Myers Beach area as the run is associated with the Roar Offshore powerboat race, and then head north up the Gulf of Mexico through Charlotte Harbor and hit some Fort Myers Offshore haunts for cards stops and lunch. We’d also probably mix in a new stop or two as ‘trials’ for future Fort Myers Offshore lunch destinations.”
On that note, Hill said, the next Fort Myers Offshore lunch run is set for January 18. Originally set for February 8, the club’s trek to Naples will happen February 15 per the updated Fort Myers Offshore schedule.
In the meantime, the couple will continue working on its Roar Offshore Fort Myers Beach Poker Run plans.
