Renegade Showcasing New Boats At Key West Poker Run – Speed on the Water

Not only is Randy Kent going to be balancing his role as team manager and driver for the Union Internationale Motonautique Class 1 XINSURANCE team during this week’s Race World Offshore-produced Key West Offshore World Championship in Key West, Fla., the owner of Marine Concepts Motorsports in Kaiser, Mo., is also going to be showing off a couple of new center consoles from Hialeah, Fla.-based Renegade Powerboats later in the week at the Florida Powerboat Club’s Key West Poker Run.

According to Kent, the performance center console manufacturer is going to have one boat in the FPC Poker Run Village at the Conch Republic Seafood Company, the event’s host venue, and another two center consoles at the docks for potential customers to get a closer look at the boats, which Kent has been selling since before the Key West Poker Run four years ago.

“We’re going to have our first boat built specifically for Key West on display in Poker Run Village—a 33’ Open with a pair of the new Mercury Racing V-10 400R engines,” said Kent, who is going to be hustling back and forth between the race pits and poker run village later this week since he and throttleman Grant Bruggemann have races scheduled for Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, plus practices on the day before each race. “I haven’t advertised the boat or told anyone about it because it would be sold and I wouldn’t have anything for Key West. I wanted to have a boat someone could buy on the spot and take delivery—I think that would be so cool for that person.

“I’ll be at the boat most evenings as I’ll be practicing or racing during the day, so I hope people take a business card and call me for private showing,” he added. “I will be scheduling in-water demos so people can contact me to set something up.”

Kent, who said he is thankful he teamed up with Renegade owner Manny Oses in 2020, stated that Renegade’s first 38’ Open with three of the new 500R engines from Mercury Racing—an all-black customer-owned beauty—is going to be in the water. He added that another 38’ Open is going to be in the water and available for demo rides, and that he can be reached directly at 913-908-7223 to arrange a meeting.

“Manny and his team build a really nice boat,” explained Kent, who also owns DEFCO Trucks and said that a DEFCO BA450 model is going to be on display at the XINSURANCE team setup in Truman Waterfront Park. “I asked Manny if he was willing to make some changes to make his boats ‘really great,’ and he made every change I asked for without question. He takes so much pride in every build and it shows. It seems many builders today have lost that touch—they just care about getting as many boats out the door. Manny truly wants every build to be better than the last build. His hands are on every boat.”
