Relentless/Laticrete In The Team Woody Fold For 2023 Season
With the first offshore powerboat race of the 2023 season—the Race World Offshore-produced 7 Mile Grand Prix in Marathon, Fla.—a little more than a month away, movement among teams is showing no signs of slowing down. Case in point is the Mod-V-class Relentless/Laticrete team owned by Travis Petko of Maryland, which recently added Laticrete-backed throttleman Rob Hartmann to the cockpit of its 30-foot Phantom, will be part of Team Woody as part of a sponsorship-deal between the two teams.

Though Petko did not elaborate on the specifics of the sponsorship deal, he said he is delighted to be racing with Team Woody, which will field at least one boat of its own this season.
“Part of the sponsorship is pit support,” said Petko. “Team Woody has wanted to be part of this class for a while. We raced with them in 2021 at the Offshore Powerboat Association World Championships in Englewood Beach.
“We will add Team Woody graphics to the boat, probably across the bow,” he added. “Team Woody is great. We love of all of those guys. They are a great asset to the sport and we are proud represent them in the 2023 season.”
The move comes amidst a seismic shift in offshore powerboat racing’s spec single-engine V-bottom classes, which has seen the Mod V-class mostly absorb the Stock V class. If current plans hold, the 2023 Mod V fleet will be the largest in the history of the class.
“For the 2023 season, Relentless/Laticrete have the full support of Team Woody,” said Billy Shipley, who co-owns the team with Chad Woody. “Just the Team Woody sticker is almost a guaranteed winning season.”
