Race World Offshore is on a roll. Not only did the Key West, Fla.-based event-producer announce earlier this week that it was adding the Great Lakes Grand Prix in Michigan City, Ind., and Roar Offshore Fort Myers Beach in Southwest Florida to next year’s schedule, the outfit has events in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Chicago in the works for the 2025 offshore racing season.
Larry Bleil, the founder and owner of Race World Offshore, has been working with Canadian Chris Grant the Toronto event. Grants owns the Super Cat-class Graydel team currently competing in the Key West Offshore World Championships, where it finished second yesterday.
Bleil is working on the Chicago event with Phillip Stainton, a business associate.
The Toronto races are targeted for mid-July. Bleil and company are shooting for Labor Day Weekend for the Chicago races. Though the contracts and agreement have not been finalized, Bleil said both deals are close to completion.
“Toronto is probably 95 percent done,” he explained. “I’d say Chicago is 90 percent done. We’re very close, and we are excited about both new venues.”
