“We were notified in November that Offshore Racing Commission had approved our application,” said Martin in a telephone interview today.
Once called the Lake Race and then-produced by the Offshore Powerboat Association, the event became LOTO Powerfest under the Powerboat P1 group before landing at its current Shootout Offshore designation.
“Don’t worry, we don’t plan to change it again,” Martin said, then laughed.
The PRO group plans to produce other offshore races this year. “We have had several venues approach us,” said Martin, though she declined to offer additional details at this time. “It’s too early to talk about them.”
