Princeton Electric Speedboating Joins Kohli-Owned UIM E1 Team As Engineering Partner – Speed on the Water

In a press release sent out earlier this week, one of the latest teams to join the upcoming Union Internationale Motonautique E1 World Championship—Team Blue Rising—announced it was onboarding Princeton University’s student-led engineering team, Princeton Electric Speedboating, as the Official Engineering Partner of Team Blue Rising for the upcoming UIM E1 World Championship. Joining them in this strategic alliance is Black Sheep Racing, further strengthening the Princeton Electric Speedboating team’s engineering and innovation capabilities.

The announcement comes less than two months after Princeton Electric Speedboating and team driver John Peeters broke the American Power Boat Association electric kilo record with a two-way kilometer average of 114.20 mph in Greensboro, N.C.

According to the release, the collaboration with Princeton Electric Speedboating is the first in a series of partnership announcements for Team Blue Rising as the team, which is co-owned by cricket megastar Virat Kohli and sports tech entrepreneur Adi K Mishra, prepares for the inaugural E1 World Championship season.

“Our partnership with Princeton Electric Speedboating is a decisive step towards reinforcing our commitment to innovation and sustainable sports practices,” said Mishra, a co-owner of Team Blue Rising and founder of League Sports Co. “Their achievements in electric boating align seamlessly with our vision for the E1 World Championship and sends a strong message that we are here to win while focusing on core ethos of sustainability and opportunity for all.”

Cricket megastar Virat Kohli and sports tech entrepreneur Adi K Mishra are eager to compete in the E1 World Championship.

Kohli, a Cricket legend and the co-owner of Team Blue Rising, not only brings his stellar sportsmanship but also a profound commitment to sustainability in sports. His involvement— along with other high-profile team owners such as Rafa Nadal, Tom Brady, Checo Perez, Didier Drogba and Steve Aoki—reinforces the team’s pursuit of excellence and responsible sportsmanship.

“Virat is one of the best athletes of our generation, deeply passionate about sustainability and women empowerment—his eagerness to use his platform for promoting these causes resonated with our team’s values,” Mishra said in recognition of Kohli’s dedication. “It’s inspiring how he’s been actively empowering women in sports and championing sustainability in cricket and beyond.”

Andrew Robbins, the Princeton Electric Speedboating president, said the team is proud to be partnering with Team Blue Rising for the inaugural UIM E1 World Championship.

“It’s a great opportunity to be on the advent of a new form of racing, spurred on by some of the greatest electric technology that exists in the modern world today,” Robbins said. “By utilizing the knowledge and technology gained in our world record development we are ready to help put Team Blue Rising on the top of the podium.”

The Princeton Electric Speedboating had reason to celebrate after breaking the electric-boat kilo record in North Carolina in late October.

Although it was not detailed in the press release, Robbins said that Peeters is set to drive the new all-electric Racebird for Team Blue Rising.

“John and I will be the only two from our teams working with Team Blue Rising to start,” Robbins said. “The two of us will be in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for the first race on February 2nd-3rd. I will be representing Princeton Electric Speedboating and John will be presenting Black Sheep Racing.”

Expanding its vision of innovation and sustainability, Team Blue Rising is also inviting universities from India and the UAE to collaborate in various STEM research initiatives. This outreach aims to integrate cutting-edge research with practical sports applications, nurturing the next generation of talent in sustainable technology and engineering.

“Through these partnerships, we aspire to create a fertile ground for pioneering research, directly contributing to the sports world and beyond,” Mishra emphasized, adding that people can follow the team via its website or on social media for the latest updates.
