Powerboat P1 USA Unveils ‘Triple Crown’ Series Plans

A series within a series, the Powerboat P1 USA-produced “Triple Crown” will include events in Louisiana, Wisconsin and Florida with competition on both Saturday and Sunday. The action is slated to begin June 20-21 in New Orleans, then move to Sheboygan August 8-10 and finish September 5-7 in St. Petersburg. All races will be sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association, which means teams can earn points both days as part of the APBA Offshore National Championship Series.

Triple Crown events are open to all APBA classes. Teams in the Pro Class 1, Super Cat, Super Stock, 500R Factory Stock and Mod V categories, however, will vie for cash purses awarded at the end of the series, according to a press release from Powerboat P1 USA.

The release did not specify a dollar amount to be paid out to each class-champion after the six races are complete.

“With the support of leading venues, sponsors and partners, the Triple Crown series will showcase the very best in offshore racing, together with P1 AquaX jet ski action as part of its own national championship, to create an outstanding show for fans and visitors,” said Thomas Covington, head of Tampa-based Powerboat P1 USA. “All three rounds will be broadcast live on MAVTV as well as our P1 livestreams on social media, with FanDuel Sports Network and leading international sports channels broadcasting post-event coverage.”

“Over the coming months we will be unveiling further details of event sponsors and partners, prize money and race schedules,” he continued. “Through the P1 Marine Foundation, proceeds from the P1 Offshore Triple Crown will directly support local non-profits dedicated to marine conservation, water safety and educational programs for youth in the three race locations.”

In the release, Powerboat P1 reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the season-opening May 16-18 Thunder On Cocoa Beach event, which is not part of the 2025 Triple Crown series.
