Powerboat P1 Announces Major Sponsor/Partner Return
During a business lunch just a short walk from Powerboat P1 headquarters in London last week, I asked Azam Rangoonwala, the chief executive officer of the organization, how sponsorships were going for the 2024 Class 1 season. Powerboat P1 produces the Union Internationale Motonautique-sanctioned Class 1 World Championship Series Union, and in the off-season saw the loss of the Huski-backed team the ongoing sponsor-acquisition challenges of 222 Offshore Australia team. Neither was particularly good news for Rangoonwala and company.

And yet he smiled at the question. “You know, I can’t tell you everything just yet but I think we are still going to have five or six Class 1 teams at every race,” he said.
Equally important for Powerboat P1, Rangoonwala explained, major sponsors Monster Energy Good Boy Vodka, XINSURANCE and Mercury Racing will be back for the 2024 season and beyond.
“Partnerships such as these are at the foundation of our business,” he said.
In a press release this morning, Rangoonwala made it official.
Good Boy Vodka founder Alex Pratt will complete in the Good Boy Vodka/df Young Class 1 raceboat alongside owner Rich Wyatt.
The returning sponsor the Class 1 Monster Energy/M CON team, Monster Energy is the Official Energy Drink of Powerboat P1, as well as the Official Energy Drink of the 2024 American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series, the UIM Class 1 World Championship and the P1 AquaX USA National Championship.
Good Boy Vodka founder/owner Alex Pratt has inked a three-year for his spirt and canned cocktail brand to be the Official Vodka of Powerboat P1 Offshore. Good Boy Vodka also is backing the Class 1 df Young team, and Pratt will drive the boat alongside owner/throttleman Rich Wyatt.
“Racing in Class 1 is not only a big passion for me but also a significant marketing arm for our brand that sets us apart from our competition,” Pratt said in the release.
The Class 1 XINSURNACE team is one of several offshore racing teams backed by the specialty insurance provider.
Not only is XINSURNACE returning as an Official Partner of Powerboat P1, the Sandy, Utah-based specialty insurer fields a Class 1 team of its with Randy Kent at the wheel and—new this year—Brit Lilly on the throttles. Rick J. Lindsey, the president and chief executive officer XINSURANCE, will once again supply his A-Star helicopter as the Official Broadcast Helicopter for Powerboat P1 coverage.
With its 1100 Comp engine, Mercury Racing is returning as Official Engine of the UIM Class 1 World Championship and Powerboat P1 racing.
“The partnership has expanded each year and it adds significant value to our business,” Rangoonwala said in the release. “The race teams will continue to receive on0site technical support this season through Mercury Racing’s Race-Support Team, underscoring its commitment to the sport and its products.”
Mercury Racing’s 1100 Comp engines are spec power for all Class 1 raceboats.
In January Powerboat P1 and MYCO Trailers extended their partnership through the 2024 offshore racing season. “MYCO Trailers has been the leading supplier of trailers to the powerboat racing market for 50 years , and racers feel confident with MYCO getting them from race to race,” said Denis McComb, MYCO’s vice-president of sales, in the release.
Added Rangoonwala, “Strategic partnerships are an integral part of our business and this is a very natural relationship that delivers tangible results for both parties.”
