Powerboat P1 And XINSURANCE Reach Agreement On Cocoa Beach Coverage

At-home livestream viewers will once again enjoy aerial video from the XINSURANCE A-Star helicopter during Thunder On Cocoa Beach next year. The three principals involved—local organizers, event-producer Powerboat P1 and the specialty insurance provider—have reached an agreement for coverage of the May 17-18 event.

At least for the Cocoa Beach event, the conflict over coverage rights that began one week ago today ostensibly has ended.

XINSURANCE principal and helicopter pilot Rick J. Lindsey announced the news last night in a social media post that he and his son/videographer, Parker, will be back in the air for the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship season-opener.

“XINSURANCE will be providing its helicopter at Cocoa Beach as it has in previous years and under similar terms and conditions that other promoters have already signed off on for 2025,” Lindsey wrote. “Additionally, XINSURANCE will also be providing its livestream at the race in Cocoa Beach and as the exclusive livestream of the event, with both the livestream and helicopter again being provided at no cost.”

To that end, XINSURANCE also will bring in a production company to handle the technical aspects of the Cocoa Beach livestream broadcast. Powerboat P1/P1 Offshore will not be involved in the production.

Cocoa Beach-based lead organizer Kerry Bartlett reached out yesterday with a telephone call to confirm the news. Reached via text message, Thomas Covington, the leader of Powerboat P1/P1 Offshore operations in the United States, also confirmed the development.

Powerboat P1 will produce livestream broadcasts for three yet–to-be announced races in concert with MAVTV, as well as its own social media channels, next season.
