Photo Gallery—Flashbacks From The 2015 Miami International Boat Show

For more than a month, speedonthewater.com co-publisher Jason Johnson and I have kept track of what’s coming—and what’s not—to South Florida this week with our “Countdown To The 2025 Miami International Boat Show” article series. Our mission was to help performance-minded show-goers make the best of their time and the event, as well as provide a glimpse of what’s ahead for our readers who won’t be there.
Which means most of you.

In addition to basic reporting work, producing the series has at times required us to look through our Miami show photo archives. And so we stumbled on the highly stylized images of Jay Nichols from the 2015.
That was the year before the event moved to Miami Marine Stadium on Virginia Key. Back then, the show had two locations, the Miami Convention and Sea Isle Marina across Biscayne Bay, since renamed Venetian Marina.

Mercury Racing added another member to its quad-cam four-valve turbocharged stern-drive engine series.
A lot happened at the event 10 years ago. Mystic Powerboats displayed its first new 42-foot center consoles, as well as a 44-foot catamaran that would lead to the current C4000, in the tent area behind the convention center. Cigarette Racing Team displayed one of its earliest and most dazzling 50-foot V-bottom collaborations with Mercedes-AMG.

The Pure Platinum catamaran was one of Skater’s most elaborate creations.
The first Pure Platinum catamaran dazzled visitors to the Skater Powerboats exhibit.
On the propulsion side, Mercury Racing unveiled its 1550/1350 stern-drive and six-cylinder 400-hp outboard engines, while Seven Marine showcased it sexy V-8 outboard engine power.

Based on a supercharged in-line six-cylinder platform, Mercury Racing’s most powerful outboard at the time was eventually placed by a 10-cylinder naturally aspirated version.
What a difference 10 years makes.
Mystic and Skater have not exhibited at the Miami show since it returned to its primary convention center location in 2021. Cigarette Racing Team no longer collaborates with Mercedes-AMG. Mercury Racing’s 1550/1350 has a 135//1100 sibling.
The six-cylinder 400-hp outboard has been replaced by a V-10 version.

Once the talk of the show, Cigarette-AMG collaborations no longer exist.
Seven Marine outboards are out of production.
Enjoy your stroll down memory lane—and get ready to see what’s new at this year’s event.

Seven Marine’s first V-8 outboard produced 557 hp.
