Outerlimits Showcasing Future Models In Progress At Owners Event

When Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats customers arrived at the company’s first Factory Fun Run in 2019, the Friday night dinner celebration’s big reveal was SV Offshore Racing, Vinnie Diorio’s and Simon Prevost’s new 39-foot Super Cat-class raceboat. The second version of the event kicks off tonight with a welcome party at the company’s Bristol, R.I., and once again Outerlimits owners—some 20 of them—and their guests will be treated to a couple of things they haven’t seen before, at least in person.

The all-carbon 37-footer is being built as an outboard engine-powered pleasure boat.

The first carbon-fiber canopy, six-seat SC 37 catamaran “in the plug stages” will be on display, according to Dan Kleitz, the company’s national sales manager.

As previously reported, the first model should be complete in early 2024. Like its open-cockpit sibling, it will be powered by Mercury Racing outboard engines.

“We are building it as a pleasure boat, not a raceboat,” said Kleitz. “We have three orders now and, of course, we are accepting more.”

Now SC 46 buyers will have a choice between open-cockpit and full-canopy versions of the stern-drive engine-powered catamaran.

Guests to the second Factory Fun Run, which is celebrating the company’s 30th anniversary, also will get a chance to check out the new deck for the open-cockpit, eight-seat version of the SC 46 catamaran tonight at the factory. All previous 46-footers left the factory with full canopies.

Though Outerlimits is hosting a fun run today for early arrivals, the main event—a lunch run to Newport followed by another evening dinner celebration—happens tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s lunch run to Newport, R.I., boasts open water and great scenery Photo from the 2019 event by Halsey Fulton copyright Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats.

“We’re a little smaller than we were last time around, but we lost some boats to mechanical issues and we planned the event later than we did before, so we’re happy to welcome 20 of our customers for the weekend,” said Kleitz. “It’s going to be a great time.”
