Delmarva

As of Friday, some 369 white marlin were caught during the White Marlin Open, which started on Monday. Four hit the scales, with the biggest weighing 77 pounds and earning the crew of the Waste Knot a cool $3.6 million. Tuna fishing has been decent in the mid-Atlantic canyons, with bigeye continuing to make a fair showing.

New Jersey/New York

Small bluefin mixed with the larger models off New Jersey when fishermen were able to get after them this week. Jigs worked well, especially dead-sticked soft plastics, as did trolling. The smaller fish hit spreader bars while larger tuna favored ballyhoo.

New England

The swarm of mid-30-inch bluefin on the midshore grounds south of Cape Cod and Rhode Island continues, as fish are caught on jigs and trolling. Giant tuna crashed into Cape Cod Bay, drawn in by big schools of bunker. Most of the fish are 100 inches or better, so most anglers are holding back with the spinning gear and breaking out the 130s and 80s.
