For the past eight years, American Custom Marine of Kimball, Mich., has sponsored the welcome party for the annual Boyne Thunder Poker Run, which is set for July 8-9 this year, to kick off the weekend. The Thursday night bash quickly outgrew its original humble setting atop Boyne Mountain and now is hosted in a banquet room in the Boyne Mountain Resort.

This time around, the full-service dealership has a co-sponsor for the celebration as Nor-Tech High-Performance Boats of Fort Myers, Fla., has signed on for the cause.

“We are the Nor-Tech dealer for the Great Lakes region, so partnering up is great for us and great for Nor-Tech,” said Knoblock

In 2021, Henrik Margård, Nor-Tech’s chief operating officer, and dealer manager Geoff Tomlinson experienced the Boyne Thunder Poker Run for the first time. Both were impressed by the Northern Michigan event, which raises money for local charities. When Nor-Tech 390 Sport center-console owner Ken Lalonde of Upstate New York approached Margård to help support the event, Margård was eager to step up.

“Ken, who is on the Boyne Thunder board as well as a member of the 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run organizing committee, called and asked if we would like to participate as a sponsor of the event,” said Margård. “Nor-Tech tries to support as many philanthropic projects as possible, though it’s impossible to participate in every one. But we felt their mission aligned with ours and we are proud to be a part of it.”
