A milestone build for Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats, 390 Sport Center Console No. 500 is going to an appropriately high-profile home. The triple Mercury Racing 400R outboard-engine-powered 39-footer, which will be on display this week at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, is the property of Florida Powerboat Club president and founder Stu Jones.

Dubbed the 390 Sport Poker Run Edition, the center console will be the club’s “Official Support Boat” during its 2025 event season. Throughout the year, Jones also plans to use his new prize to raise money for local charities by donating “poker-run experience” rides that can be sold or auctioned off during fundraisers.

More immediately, the boat will run with the Tuesday and Wednesday waves for the club’s Key West Poker Run set for November 5-10. That means more than 250 club members and their guests will get a look at the boat in action during poker run week. For the weekend, it will be displayed on its matching MYCO trailer in the Florida Powerboat Club Poker Run Village adjacent to the Conch Republic Seafood restaurant host-venue.

“Tuesday will be a shakedown run for the new Nor-Tech 390 Sport center console King of Clubs Poker Run Edition, and I plan to focus on safety management with members of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crew riding along with me,” Jones explained/ “I have equipped the boat with many safety features, including strobe bar on the top, a public address system and rescue equipment such as a floating backboard, a trauma kit and automatic emergency defibrillator.

“Once we get to Marathon, we will release the group to continue to head to Key West and we will return to Miami and do it all again on the Wednesday group,” he added. “Wednesday has a slightly different agenda for the new Nor-Tech 390 Sport, as we will be taking riders who made substantial charity donations to have the privilege of riding in the Key West Poker Run on the new boat.”

But Jones won’t be turning around at Marathon Wednesday. Instead, they’ll go all way to Key West, leave the 39-footer on its matching MYCO trailer in the Florida Poker Run Village outside the Conch Republic Seafood restaurant and fly back to Miami in time for the Thursday morning departure.

As for what will become of Jones’ Cigarette 38 Top Gun V-bottom dubbed Top Gun Flight 1130 and powered by twin Mercury Racing 565 engines, the Florida Powerboat Club head isn’t getting rid of it just yet. The 38-footer will make an appearance during the Key West Poker Run event as part of the Thursday departure wave.

Jones has plenty of plans for his 39-foot beauty during the 2025 event-season.

“Along with FPC staff riding on the Top Gun Thursday, we’re happy to host Mercury Racing brand manager Anna Frazier,” said Jones. “She’ll be doing the run from Miami to Key West for the first time on a Mercury Racing-powered boat.”

The 39-footer is not the first Nor-Tech to be the official Florida Powerboat Club ride. That distinction belongs to a 2008 Nor-Tech Super Vee Jones owned for several years.
