Equal parts real-time documentary and prequel, the second Scrapyard Media video capturing Factory Billet’s ongoing journey into high-performance V-bottom history, the “Break A Record Or Keep A Promise?” is live on the Speed On The Water YouTube channel.
The video follows Factory Billet owner/pilot Jim Schultz and engine-builder Mike Faucher through their record-setting performance at the 2024 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, where in just one pass on the three-quarter-mile course they reached 186 mph in Schultz’s 6,000-plus-hp 51-foot Outerlimits. One pass was all Schultz had time for thanks to a personal obligation—his five-year-old daughter’s birthday party—and he and Faucher made the most of it.
But the 20-minute video also tells the deeper story of how the Factory Billet team developed the boat and its propulsion package during the past eight years and built up to its current level of performance. Fueled by Shultz’s passion, Factory Billet’s gaudy performances at the Central Missouri top-speed contest didn’t just happen.
