Need Cosmetic Protection For Your Boat? The Speed On The Water Key West Bash Auction Has You Covered
By the time I get to Key West, Fla., next Wednesday, I will have logged more than 100 hours on Cowboy & Indian, a 37-foot DCB Performance Marine catamaran owned by Kelly O’Hara and Kiran Pinisetti. Since May, I’ve enjoyed nine rides on the outboard engine-powered cat, traded thousands of puns with O’Hara and chased down truck thieves with Pinisetti—all in pursuit of a speedonthewater.com article series. The Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run will be event No. 10.
Bid high enough at the Speed On The Water Key West Bash and you’ll have protection for your boat while it’s on the road covered.
It’s been one hell of a fun ride, and I even picked a few skills from it such as putting a custom-fitted-and-fabricated Marine Concepts cover on a catamaran on a tilt trailer. As you’d guess, covering the 37-footer for the road with the Marine Concepts product has proven more than worth the effort for O’Hara and Pinisetti. They’ve trailered the cat almost 30,000 miles this year and there’s barely a road-nick or scratch on it.
Thanks to Marine Concepts, bidders at the live auction during the November 7 Speed On The Water Key West Bash presented by Parallel Project will have a chance to secure a custom-made boat cover of their own. The Missouri-based company is donating a soft-touch travel cover to be fabricated for boats up to 42 feet long. Retail price for the product is $225 per linear foot, which translates to a $9,450 value for the auction item.
Each Marine Concepts cover is custom-made for the client’s boat.
The auction starts at 8:45 p.m. outside—unless it rains—at the Pickle’s Pub Sandbar on Greene Street, which once again will be closed for the 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. celebration. Proceeds will go to Samuel’s House, a Key West-based shelter for women, children and intact families. So bid high, because the money raised makes a difference.
And if you need if a few tips for getting your new snug custom cover on your boat? Call Pinisetti or O’Hara. They know their stuff. I’m just unskilled labor.
