Monster Energy/M CON Skater Documentary Surpasses 500,000 Views
During this morning’s research on the Speed On The Water YouTube channel for a story about Michael Howe’s latest adventure, I noticed something that made me smile. And I mean big. A collaboration between Speed On The Water and Scrapyard Media, the Class 1 Monster Energy/M CON Skater catamaran-build documentary has passed the 500,000-view mark. To put point a fine point on it, 502,000 viewers have watched the video so far.
The 32-minute documentary is the strongest collaboration to date between Speedonthewater.com and Scrapyard Media.

In the midst of a Class 1 owners video conference call when I informed him of the news via text message, M CON team owner Tyler Miller replied in his typical joyful style.
“That’s just awesome,” he responded. “Just awesome.”
As chronicled in the documentary, the 43-footer was completed just a few days ahead of the 2023 Union Internationale Motonautique Class 1 season-opener in May. The rigging pressure landed squarely on the shoulders of team driver Myrick Coil, team manager Jake Leckliter and the rest of the dedicated Monster Energy/M CON group.
Having a video team in their collective dish did nothing to help them finish. Additional stress and distraction were the last things they needed. But the Monster Energy/M CON team graciously put up with the intrusion.
“Yeah, it’s kind of a pain at the time when all of that filming is going on around you, but once it all comes together and you see a response like that it’s pretty neat,” Coil said. “I am sure one day many years from now I’ll go back and watch it again, and think it was really cool to be part of.”
With more than a half-million views so far, the Monster Energy/M CON raceboat build documentary is the most successful collaboration between Speed On The Water and Scapyard Media to date.
Speedonthewater.com co-publisher Jason Johnson wasn’t shocked in the least by the success of the video.
“I’m not going to lie and say I’m super surprised with the number of views the Monster Energy/M CON video has received because I knew that video had a ton of potential when we started discussing it with Tyler and Lindsey Miller at the end of the 2022 racing season,” he explained. “But to actually see the trajectory that it took once the boat hit the water and the video went live in May 2023, and to know that it has been seen more than half a million times is very fulfilling.
“It’s also great for the sport and the M CON Class 1 and Super Cat teams, which is made up of so many great people,” he added. “And none of that would have been possible without sponsorship from M CON, Performance Boat Center and Powerboat P1.”
