Mod V Scott Free Racing Team Energized By OPTIMA Batteries Backing

The Sarasota, Fla.-based father-and-son team behind the Scott Free Racing Team, which runs as Boatfloater.com, Steve and Stephen Kildahl have a new backer on board for the 2025 Mod V-class season. OPTIMA Batteries has signed on as a sponsor.

“We’re incredibly excited to team up with OPTIMA Batteries,” said Stephen Kildahl, who drives the team’s canopied 29-foot Extreme raceboat. “Their commitment to performance and innovation aligns perfectly with our mission to compete at the highest level.

“Offshore racing is one of the toughest environments for any power source,” he added. “We trust OPTIMA to keep us running at peak performance.”

OPTIMA is the second sponsor to join the team in as many months. In February, Sonic Tools USA signed on as a backer.

The Boatfloater.com team claimed the 2021 American Power Boat Association Mod V World Championship and finished second that year in Mod V National Championship points. More recently at the 2024 Key West World Championships, Boatfloater.com took fourth overall in the nine-team field.
