Mercury Racing 500R Engines—And More—Up For Grabs During Lake Of The Ozarks Shootout Live Auction

On top of an impressive list of items that will be up for grabs during this year’s Lake of the Ozarks ShootoutSuper Cat Fest 4 Kids” Live Charity Auction taking place at Camden on the Lake Resort in Lake Ozark, Mo., on Saturday, August 26, at 6:30 p.m., the organizers of the 35th annual event announced a couple of substantial items for this year’s auction—a new pair of Mercury Racing 500R outboard engines and a Barletta Boats Aria 22UC tri-toon powered by a single 150-hp Mercury Marine outboard engine.

“We are thrilled to have these new additions to the auction,” said Leah Martin, the executive director of the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in a press release. “Mercury Racing just revealed these engines in June, and they’re nothing short of incredible. Demand is high for these new outboards; it’s awesome to be able to offer them to one lucky bidder for the Shootout auction. How exciting to be able to be one of the first to get to experience them!”

Martin also was enthused about the tri-toon, which she said offers a great first step into luxury and family fun on the water.

“This Barletta is a great lake boat,” she said. “We’re so thankful to Marty’s Marine and Barletta for helping get this boat on the Shootout auction block. It’s going to make an auction winner really happy, and it’ll be an enormous benefit to Shootout charities.”

Martin added that the Shootout and Super Cat Fest is pleased to have both Taylor Scism—last year’s chair—and her dad, Randy Scism, the founder of Marine Technology Inc., in Wentzville, Mo., on board as this year’s Super Cat Fest 4 Kids Live Auction co-chairs.

“I am honored to be asked to be help with the Shootout auction for the second year in a row,” Taylor Scism said in the release. “It’s our backyard and we couldn’t be more excited about having the 500R outboards on the roster for the auction this year. We were able to test the new engines prior to their release and we hope these raise a lot for charity!”

With significant support from Taylor Scism, whose father was the original “Top Gun” at the 1989 contest, last year’s auction raised more than $300,000 for 40 local charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation of which she is a board member.

“I’m very excited for Taylor and Randy to be joining us as co-chairs,” said Super Cat Fest organizer Alvin Heathman in the release. “I have a front-row seat watching father and daughter continuing to build the MTI legacy together.”

Martin, who said participants can register to bid by phone or online by emailing her at [email protected], added that Scisms are ideal co-chairs for the auction.

“We can’t thank Randy and Taylor enough for coming aboard to help with the Shootout Auction this year,” she said.
