Parent company GB Marine Group’s proprietary V-Warp hull makes her what the builder calls “the best performing Eastbay ever built.” She’s faster, stable, more maneuverable and—most important for this article—extremely fuel-efficient. With standard 725-hp Volvo IPS 950s, the 60 can travel almost 900 nautical miles at a swift 21 knots, and obviously a lot more at a lower speed. Marlow 70E MKII
Stay on board longer and cruise farther: Those were the goals of the owners who built the latest hull of Marlow’s 70E MKII (see the October 2023 issue). The initial attraction for them was the large engine room and enclosed bridge, plus the fact that there are backup systems for the backups. They then worked with Marlow to design bigger windows, customize the bridge, and even add a steam shower to the master ensuite. The Caterpillar C18s’ fuel burn at 17 to 18 knots is “minimal,” says the owner. And at a leisurely eight knots, 2,815 nautical miles are possible. Ocean Alexander 32L
One of Ocean Alexander’s most popular models is getting a design refresh with Hulls 8 and 9. The 32L (for Legend) is a 106-foot, 4-inch (23′ beam) five-stateroom yacht designed by Evan K. Marshall as an evolution of the OA 100. Now owners can choose a single-deck master on the main deck instead of the original split-deck layout that places the ensuite on the lower level. Other new options include a pass-through window connecting the galley and dining salon, Pullman berths in a twin cabin, and removing the davit on the flybridge to surround the Jacuzzi with sunpads. The newest addition to Riviera’s SUV line made her U.S. premiere at the 2023 Fort Lauderdale show in late October. A design meld of the Flybridge and Sport Yacht models, the SUV line’s hallmarks are its expansive water sports cockpit, single-level alfresco deck and salon, plus a convivial foredeck lounge. On the 65-foot (including the swim platform and bowsprit) 585 SUV (18′ 7″ beam), excellent use of space has given the lower deck three cabins and three heads, plus an additional area aft of the master for a utility room, extra accommodations, or crew quarters. A brand born in Australia in 2019, Iliad Catamarans is beginning to make real inroads into the American market. Its 53F will make her U.S. debut at the 2024 Miami boat show in February. One of her standout features is the highest bridgedeck clearance in her class, according to Iliad. Combine that with generous freeboard and this is a vessel that can handle challenging conditions offshore. And far from shore she can venture: 440-hp Volvo or Yanmar engines deliver a top speed of 21 knots, but at low speeds she barely sips fuel, extending her range to 3,135 nautical miles. Australian builder Maritimo has always been about long-range vessels, and with the recent global launch of its flagship Sedan series boat, it’s more comfortable than ever to go the distance with this brand. The 75-foot, 8-inch S75 (19′ 8″ beam) features an “Adventure Deck” aft, a lower cockpit with almost 200 square feet of open space for hauling toys, setting up sun loungers at water level, or even playing basketball. On the main deck, the galley connects the cockpit to the salon, which can be made into an indoor/outdoor area with the option of sliding windows. The first choice owners of the new PC68 model need to make is how to use the forward part of the main deck: open salon or on-deck master? One gives a huge entertaining space and the other a full-beam cabin with wraparound windows. Then it’s a question of how to use the extended flybridge and Portuguese bridge a deck above, which offer many layout options. The two-stateroom big sister to the successful N41 offers a large flybridge, a separated pilothouse, an additional head, and generally more room than her smaller sibling, though she has a similar finish.
