Legend Marine Group Delivers First 500R Outboard-Powered Nor-Tech Center Console – Speed on the Water

Until last weekend at the Lake Cumberland Poker Run in Kentucky, new Nor-Tech 390 Sport center-console owner Brian Campbell didn’t know a center console could throw a rooster-tail. Now he does, thanks to a trio of Mercury Racing 500R outboard engines on the transom of the 39-footer.

Campbell’s boat is the first from the Fort Myers, Fla., company to be powered by the potent V-8 outboards.

“That was kind of different,” he said, then chuckled. “I’d never seen a center console throw a rooster-tail before. I was totally shocked by the amount of power it has.

“I love it,” he continued. “It turned out excellent. The fit and finish from Nor-Tech is above and beyond.

Based in Carrollton, Texas, Legend Marine Group’s Greg Connell and Jennifer Bishop delivered the boat to Campbell and his wife, Missy, who divide their time between homes in Florida and Georgia, and joined them for the Cumberland event. Legend Marine delivered the center console on a custom MYCO trailer.

The Cambells also own a Performance Powerboats P-360 catamaran, which they plan to keep in Georgia. Starting this winter, they’ll keep their color-matched center console at their Florida home.

A closer look at a few of the 39-footer’s details.

The 39-footer is the second Nor-Tech center console—they previously owned a 340 Sport model powered by Mercury Racing 400R outboards—the couple purchased through Legend Marine Group. They ordered it with a FLIR system and autopilot in anticipation of a Bahamas adventure next year with the Florida Powerboat Club.

“The Bahamas trip has been a bucket-list item for us for a long time,” said Brian Campbell.

And now they have a center console that can handle the open-water journey—and throw a rooster-tail in the process.
