Tickets are now on sale for The Keweenaw Dark Sky Park’s second annual Upper Peninsula Dark Sky Festival, hosted by the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge April 11-13, 2024. Visitors will enjoy an expanded program that spans three days this year, with a host of new speakers and activities that take a deep dive into the night sky, offering an immersive experience for all.

“We invite you to join us at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge for the second-annual Upper Peninsula Dark Sky Festival,” says Chris Guibert, Keweenaw Mountain Lodge outdoor activities lead. “Together we can discover the night and enjoy three days of adventure and education. Our goal is to inspire individuals to learn about the universe and recognize the ecological and health benefits of living under a dark sky.”

Activities range from tours, speakers and workshops to outdoor experiences. Learn about everything from northern lights lore to methods behind some of photographers’ best photos of the night sky.

New and returning speakers include Robert J. Nemiroff, professor of physics at Michigan Technological University, discussing some of the best photos from NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day, and returning favorite Melissa Kaelin, presenting “Embrace the Darkness.”

From guided night snow shoe tours to a group tour of the former Calumet Air Force Station, there’s a host of exciting activities and guided tours planned for this year’s festival!
