Inaugural Tip Of The Spear Poker Run Opens Sponsor Registration

Sponsor registration is open for the new Tip Of The Spear Poker Run set for June 27-29 and based in Norfolk, Va. The inaugural event, which is being organized by veteran performance-boat owner Mark Tuck and members of the Mid-Atlantic Powerboat Association will benefit the Navy Seal Foundation.

The Waterside Marina in Norfolk, Va., will be the host venue for first Tip Of The Spear Poker Run, which opened sponsor registration this morning.

“We are very excited to be able to raise funds for this exceptional foundation and we are looking forward to providing our participants a first-class event,” said Tuck.

The three-day happening is being produced under the Atlantic Coast Powerboat Association umbrella. Tuck founded that outfit in 2014 to support the successful Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats attack on the V-bottom kilometer record that year.

“The MAPA people and I and collectively decided to host the event under the Atlantic Coast Powerboat Association because it made sense for the ability to expedite decisions,” Tuck explained. “MAPA continues to support and contribute to the run—there’s absolutely no animosity or anything like that.”

To learn more about poker-run planning and production ahead of the event, Tuck reached out to other noteworthy producers. Their experience-based input proved invaluable to him.

“I have received tremendous help from organizers of other events including the Kuttawa Cannonball Run in Kentucky, the 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run in Upstate New York and Stu Jones of the Florida Powerboat Club,” he said.
