Imprescia And Morgan Joining The Factory 450R Stock Class

Imprescia And Morgan Joining The Factory 450R Stock Class

Exiting the Mod V class on a high note after their first-place overall finish at the Race World Offshore Championships in Key West, Fla., former 151 Express teammates Nick Imprescia and Ian Morgan are moving into the catamaran ranks this season. Imprescia will throttle and Morgan will drive an MTI 390XR catamaran, which ran as KLOVAR Motorsports last year and TS Motorsports in 2021, in the 450R Factory Stock class.

Dressed in its new livery, the 39-footer debuted today at the Florida Powerboat Club Tampa Bay Poker Run. The boat’s appearance today confirmed rumors, which had been swirling for months, that Imprescia and Morgan were joining the thriving class this season.

The Southwest Florida-based team will kick off its season at the Race World Offshore 7 Mile Grand Prix in Marathon, Fla., the first contest of the 2023 American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series.

The team will retain its 151 Express handle. Though both Imprescia and Morgan are experienced V-bottom competitors, neither has racing experience in a catamaran. (On the water when this story went live, neither could be reached for comment today.)

Imprescia and Morgan will run the former KLOVAR Motorsports raceboat.

Taylor Scism, who shared the cockpit of her second TS Motorsports MTI 390XR cat with John Tomlinson last year on their way to a Union Internationale Motonautique world title, said she’s delighted to have Imprescia and Morgan in the 450R Factory Stock ranks. The fleet should see six to eight boats take the green flag in Marathon this month.

“I am really looking forward to having Nick and Ian out on the course with us in the 450 class this season,” she said. “Nick’s dad, Joey, raced back in the day at the same time as my dad, Randy, so it’s great to see us kids as the next generation in racing.”
