Image Of The Week: The Consumate Hosts

Not everyone thrives in the hospitality and customer-service business. It takes a certain type of person, the kind who gets a kick out of pleasing people and is willing to do what it takes to make that happen. Customers can be demanding, unreasonable and flat-out rude, and, contrary to the silly expression, they are not always right.

But a good hospitality/customer-service person always makes them feel as if they are.

Enter MTI’s Shaun Peters and Milton Calafel, captured here during last weekend’s New Year’s Fun Run to the Florida Keys. Both often are the public, front-line faces of the Wentzville, Mo., company and they excel in that role.

Calafel is head of MTI Support, meaning he travels all over the country to provide service and handles MTI concierge operations at Haulover Marine Center in South Florida. He’s also the crew chief of the TS Motorsports offshore racing team of Taylor Scism and John Tomlinson, which competes in the 450R Factory Stock class.

Peters is MTI’s sales and asset manager, and his duties involve sales, boat testing and more. He also is a crew member for TS Motorsports, which works out nicely as he and Scism are engaged and set to marry in April.

Do Calafel and Peters love every minute of their work? Probably not. But from the image above, it’s hard to imagine otherwise.
