Image Of The Week—A Generational Bonding Moment
Preston Coil is the 15-year-old-son of Performance Boat Center’s Myrick Coil and his wife, Missi. He is the oldest of their four children, and one very cool cat. He proved that to me during a recent Sunday fun day following the Saturday Performance Boat Center Spring Fun Run on the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri.
Mike Barnes of Wisconsin is the 52-year-old husband of Melissa Barnes. In his leisure time, he is the self-described “wheel-man” for his close friend, Adam Seraphine of Minnesota, who owns a canopied MTI 390XR catamaran. Where one goes you typically find the other.

Both Coil and Barnes are avid performance-boating fans, and they’ve gotten to know each other a bit through the multi-brand Osage Beach, Mo.-headquartered go-fast- and pontoon-boat dealership and the many events it produces. During the spring fun run lunch at The Cave Bar and Grill, they strolled the docks and checked out a few of the 71 boats that participated in the season-opening event.
As you can see in the photo above, something—mostly like a boat—got their undivided attention, though Seraphine offered an alternative explanation.
“Preston is probably telling Mike that he needs to start behaving,” he said, then laughed.
