Image Of The Week: 10th Street Cyber-Toon

Across the boating universe, there’s no finer form of cheap entertainment than posting up at a public launch ramp with beach chairs and a full cooler on a weekend afternoon. From mishaps to mash-ups, you never know what you’ll see. But you’re guaranteed to catch plenty of both all the way through sunset.

You never know what you’re going to see at a public launch ramp.
Case in point, the boat-and-tow-vehicle combo New Jersey’s Chris LaMorte and I spied as we pulled LaMorte’s 36-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran out of the water at the 10th Street launch ramp in Sarasota, Fla., after the first three card-stops of the Florida Powerboat Club Tampa Bay Poker Run.
As we waited for our mutual friend, Ron Muller, to back the cat’s trailer into the water, a Tesla Cyber Truck pulling a Tracker pontoon boat backed down the ramp to launch.
The truck looked new. They boat did not. Other than hard angles and their owner, they had little in common.
It was a pairing neither LaMorte nor I had seen before, for sure, but for the record the owner did a nice job getting the toon into the water. Muller arrived before we could watch the launch. We assume, based on the back-in job, it proceeded without incident.
