How to Donate Your Christmas Tree to Support Fisheries in 2025

Here are a few options to donate your Christmas tree to support habitat restoration, beach resiliency, and other causes that benefit our fisheries in the long run. Be sure to get in touch with the groups organizing to know when and where its appropriate to bring your tree and what kind of trees are accepted.

New York – Strengthen Dunes Against Beach Erosion

The Long Island Beach Buggy Association hosts an annual event called Operation Christmas tree, which collects trees to be buried in the dunes to help strengthen them against erosion.

Virginia – Fish Habitat
