Gear Review: Searock Baby Swing

Rock-a-Buy Baby

The Searock baby swing uses the motion of the ocean to entertain the youngest boaters.

I love a good boat ride as much as the next baby, but when we’re not underway I’ve been relegated to a baby jail in the cockpit or my Pack ‘n Play in the cabin. If I’m lucky, I get a little freedom to crawl around the forward berth until I find my way into the anchor locker (someone has to check the rode once in a while). Thankfully, my friends John and Sarah gave me a Searocker swing ($160) for my birthday. These friends, they’re boaters and they just get me.

I made my parents bring the Searock out on our last trip to the boat. It’s so easy to install—it can clip to anything, like the hardtop of a center console or the stanchions on our boat. Even my dad was able to get it set up in a couple minutes (don’t tell him I said that!).

Able to accommodate babies from six to 48 months old, it features a four-point harness that keeps me snug to the seat, and the attachable tray puts my bottle and snacks within arm’s reach.

Best of all, the gentle swinging and view of the water keeps me entertained while Mom and Dad have their afternoon bottle. As much as I like my new rocker, at those times, I think my mom and dad like it even more.
