Gallery Of The Week—Tunnel Vision And More In St. Clair
The third race of the 2023 Offshore Powerboat Association season, yesterday’s St. Clair River Classic in Southeast Michigan attracted a multi-class fleet of 23 boats to the breathtaking waterway. Though neither preliminary nor official results have been released—look for them on the OPA website when they become available—thanks to photographer Pete Boden we have fine images from the 29th annual event.
Though the 450R Factory Stock-class Doug Wright Powerboats catamaran ran uncontested, the team still put on a show for the fans at the 29th annual St. Clair River Classic. Photos by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.
“It was actually a great day,” said Boden, who’s enjoying summer in Northern Michigan but dropped down-state to shoot the race. “Expectations were not high, so I just enjoyed a beautiful morning and afternoon in a cool town.”
Though they didn’t have competition in the 450R Factory Stock class of outboard engine-powered catamarans, the Doug Wright Powerboats team of throttleman Ricky Maldonado and rookie driver Logan Aiden ran their 38-footer yesterday. And Boden nabbed an excellent “down-the-tunnel” shot of the vibrant red raceboat in action.
Boden also snagged a few excellent pics of Extreme V-class Team Farnsworth/Hancock Claims Consultants, a 40-foot Fountain, running alongside the Doug Wright cat as well as fellow Extreme V-class entry Knucklehead Racing. (The Knucklehead Racing team reportedly took the Extreme V-class victory.)
Next up on the Offshore Powerboat Association schedule is Great Lakes Grand Prix, August 3-6, in Michigan City, Ind.
Throwing a tall roostertail, Team Farnsworth/Hancock Claims Consultants went head to head with Knucklehead Racing yesterday in Michigan City.
