Gallery Of The Week: Plantation’s New Next-Level Deep Impacts – Speed on the Water

A couple of days before heading north from his home in the Tampa Bay area to shoot last week’s Florida Powerboat Club-produced Emerald Coast Powerboat Poker Run in Destin, Fla., speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden made the drive to the opposite end of the state for a photo session in the Florida Keys. The road warrior that Boden is, the 300-plus-mile trek south and the 400-plus-mile trip to the north are “short drives.”

Thanks to the team at Plantation Boat Mart & Marina in Key Largo, Boden was able to spend some time on and around three of the dealership’s new Deep Impact Custom Boats models—two fully loaded 399 Sport models with quad Mercury Racing 450R engines and the Opa-locka, Fla., company’s first four-engine 36-foot center console. A few days later he also happened to catch some images of the most colorful boat of the three he encountered in Key Largo—the vibrant orange, gray and black beauty painted by Janet Lucente of Janet’s Custom Paint—from a helicopter during the 31st annual Emerald Coast event.

Equipped with a FLIR night vision camera, L-shape transom seating and two sets of lounges ahead of the helm, this particular 39-footer was equipped with a single row of helm seats to allow for more deck space aft. The 17,000-pound boat’s orange and gray color-matched interior complemented the overall build and rigging quality handled by the team at Deep Impact.

In stark comparison, the second 399 Sport featured an all-white interior and an unassuming gray, black and white custom paint scheme—the two boats are pictured running together in the image above. The 39-footer also has second row helm seating with the optional Summer Kitchen, which has a sink, bottle storage and a slide-out Yeti cooler. The transom seat in the model also was plumbed for livewell or chiller capability and the boat’s hardtop included a 10-inch Garmin display.

“We’re definitely entering a ‘new era’ for Deep Impact,” said Valentina Botero, the marketing manager for Plantation Boat Mart & Marina. “We expect to travel to poker runs throughout the country this year and the years to follow. For 2024 we are awaiting the release of the latest Deep Impact model, the 499 Sport. It is going to be an absolute beast.”

Botero and the Plantation crew were especially excited to have the first four-engine 36-footer—a stunning gray and white with quad 300R V-8 engines from Mercury Racing—on hand for rides.

She said the custom-painted 369 Sport, which features one of Deep Impact’s newly designed oversized hard tops, has one of the largest cabins in the 36-foot category. That’s no surprise considering the 12,000-pound boat has a 10-foot, 2-inch beam.

Botero added that anyone interested in checking out one of Plantation’s newest Deep Impact models or with questions regarding current inventory or future orders should reach out via the website or the 305-852-5424. The company also is going to have boats on display at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, taking place October 25-29.
