Fort Myers Offshore Bound For Millers Dockside—At Last

Had things gone to plan, Fort Myers Offshore would have opened its 2024/2025 season in mid-October with a lunch run to Millers Dockside on Boca Grande, a popular destination for members of the Southwest Florida nonprofit scholarship-raising club. But back-to-back hurricanes Helene and Milton forced those plans to change by making the Boca Grande venue inaccessible until recently, and the club pivoted to another location.

Now that access has been restored, the Fort Myers Offshore group can head to Millers Dockside, and that’s exactly what’s on tap this Saturday for the fleet. Club president Tim Hill estimates the run will attract 20 to 30 boats and 100 participants.

“That’s what we typically have for this run,” said Hill. “And it gets pretty tight at those numbers.”

This Saturday’s run to Millers Dockside is the fourth event of the 2024/2025 Fort Myers Offshore season.

Hill paused and chuckled. Coming off a club-record-setting 91-boat turnout for the its last event—the Holiday Fun Run to the Riviera Bar and Grill—he’s learned not to rely on prior event history when estimating current event turnout.

“As you know, there is nothing typical about Fort Myers Offshore these days,” he said, then laughed again. “With the continued growth of our member base we could easily end up with 40-plus boats.”

Thanks to a casual, good-time atmosphere at all Fort Myers Offshore events, the group continues to grow.
