Florida Powerboat Club Winter Fun Run At Capacity
For 27 Florida Powerboat Club members and their guests, a brief escape from winter is just a few weeks away in the Upper Florida Keys. The fleet of catamarans, center consoles and V-bottom sportboats will depart from the greater Miami area for the Playa Largo Resort in Key Largo on Friday, January 24, and return Sunday, January 26.

“We kind of hit our number yesterday,” said Stu Jones, the club’s president and founder. “We ran out of space at the Playa Largo with 27 boats. I think the docks are pretty much full.”
The Winter Fun Run is the organization’s traditional season-opener. A Marriott Autograph Collection property, the Playa Largo Resort has been the destination for the event the past three years. On Saturday during the 2024 event, the fleet ran to Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Key for lunch.
“We haven’t decided where we will run to lunch on Saturday yet,” said Jones. “We’re still exploring all of our options.”
Florida Powerboat Club members who enjoy the Hawks Cay setting will have a chance to visit the venue for an entire weekend in the near future. It is the destination for the Miami Boat Show Poker Run set for February 20-23.
