First Look: Solara Boats 250 Center Walkaround

An Introduction to Solara Boats

East Coast boaters might need an introduction to Solara Boats, which are designed and manufactured in Washington state. While the name might be new, they represent the latest chapter in the decades-long boatbuilding legacy of the Livingston Family, producers of Ranger Tugs, Cutwater, and now, Solara Boats. Solara embodies the same commitment to excellence as its sister brands while carving its niche as a line of versatile, day-boating vessels. They are built to excel in all-weather conditions while offering premium features for both anglers and leisure boaters.

You can step aboard a Solara Boat in person at the Miami International Boat Show February 12-16, 2025 or the  Atlantic City Boat Show February 26 – March 2, 2025.

The Solara 250 Center Walkaround: Solara’s Fishing-Focused Boat

The Solara 250 CW’s center walkaround design is about maximizing versatility by offering easy movement around a spacious deck–for fishing, cruising, and entertaining–along with a comfortable berth for overnight stays. Starting at the stern, one of the first things you’ll notice as you board the Solara 250 Center Walkaround is the “clear path transom area.” The engine rigging is designed to allow a clear pathway to move freely between the port and starboard sides of the boat. While this innovative swim platform is beloved by families, it’s also easy to see how convenient it would be when fighting and landing a striped bass or bluefin tuna at the stern.

The transom is packed with fishing functionality, including a recirculating live well that doubles as additional storage, a freshwater bait prep sink, a freshwater shower on the starboard side (ideal for rinsing fishing reels), and dry storage and cooler space on the port side. Along the gunnels, you’ll find four rod holders, while an overhead six-way rocket launcher adds even more capacity for rods or accessories.

The center walkaround design maximizes versatility, offering spacious movement on deck for fishing, cruising, or overnight stays.

Solara 250 CW Premium Features

In the cockpit, collapsible seating adds versatility, including a foldable transom bench seat and port-side seating that can be easily stowed to maximize fishing space. A raw water washdown system is included to keep the deck clean. The boat also features a sliding cooler that doubles as a reversible aft-facing seat for added convenience. EVA foam decking is standard, and there’s ample in-deck storage and systems access. Premium touches include a Fusion stereo system with LED lighting in the deck and hardtop.

The hardtop itself is loaded with features such as:
• Aft-facing LED spreader lights
• A rear-facing Garmin camera
• A standard cockpit sunshade
• A forward bow sunshade for additional coverage
• Stainless steel sport racks for water sports gear

The helm area features big-boat amenities, including a Garmin 8612 multifunction display, Yamaha Digital Command Link display, and autopilot. Additional controls include a bow thruster, Icon VHF radio, and auto-leveling Lenco trim tabs. The seating at the helm is premium, with two adjustable forward-and-aft sliding chairs featuring the signature Solara logo embroidered into the headrests.

The cabin opens into a space with ample headroom, making it comfortable even for taller individuals.

Comfort and Practicality

While the Solara 250 Center Walkaround can serve as a dedicated fishing vessel, it doesn’t sacrifice comfort. The port-side entry to the cabin opens into a space with impressive headroom, making it comfortable even for taller individuals.

Inside the cabin, you’ll find:
• Cushions to convert the space into a lounge or sleeping area
• A full-size marine flush toilet with privacy glass
• A stainless-steel sink with freshwater access
• USB charging outlets, 110V outlets, and a 30-amp control panel
• Systems access and rod storage

The bow offers versatile options for lounging, sunbathing, or dining. Bow filler cushions create a large lounge space, while the included pedestal and bow table provide an extra dining area. The bow also houses an electric windlass and a four-step bow boarding ladder, which is ideal for sandbar excursions.

Other standout features in the bow include:
• A forward-facing Garmin camera below the rub rail for easier trailering
• Fusion stereo controls and LED speakers
• High-quality stainless steel pop-up cleats
• Ample storage space

Besides fishing, the bow offers versatile options for lounging, sunbathing, or dining.

Performance That Sets It Apart

The 250 Center Walkaround is powered by a Yamaha 300-horsepower engine, delivering impressive speed and efficiency. Its double-stepped hull is engineered for optimal performance in rough seas, allowing the boat to plane quickly while maintaining excellent fuel economy. The laminar flow interrupters enhance maneuverability, particularly at high speeds, giving you precise control. Combined with the integrated bow thruster, docking and close-quarters handling are effortless, making this boat suitable for seasoned anglers and beginners alike.
