Experience Kissimmee Backing Powerboat P1-Produced Cowes-Torquay-Cowes Endurance Race And More

Kissimmee is in Central Florida outside of Orlando, the acknowledged theme-park mecca of the United States. The “gateway to the Isle of Wight,” Cowes is an island off the coast of England. Kissimmee sees average high-temperatures during the summer in the low-to-mid 90s. Cowes sees average summer day-time highs in the low-to-high 60s. On the face of things, they have nothing in common—with one relevant exception

Both are venues for Powerboat P1-produced events this—Kissimmee for the P1 AquaX National Championship for personal watercraft, Cowes for the Cowes-Torquay-Cowes offshore powerboat endurance race.

And now they have something else in common. Experience Kissimmee will be the title sponsor of the famed 219-mile Cowes event set for August 24-25 this year. With teammates Scott Younger, Rob Lockyer, American Alex Pratt competed in the open-ocean race.

“It was so amazing,” said Pratt, who will compete alongside dfyoung/Good Boy Vodka teammate Rich Wyatt this season in the Class 1 ranks. “I’m going back to win with Rob this year.”

The tourism marketing entity’s sponsorship agreement also extends into the Powerboat P1-produced 2024 Union Internationale Motonautique Class 1 World Championship Series. The five-event series starts May 17-19 in Cocoa Beach, Fla., which is just 65 miles from Kissimmee.

“We are thrilled with the evolution of our partnership with Powerboat P1,” said DT Minich, the president and chief executive officer of Experience Kissimmee, in a Powerboat P1 press release issued this morning. “What began as a single event collaboration in Lake Toho, Kissimmee, has blossomed into a global activation, showcasing the strong bond and confidence we share with P1.”

Added Powerboat P1 chief executive officer Azam Rangoonwala, “With our U.S. headquarters being less than 40 miles from Kissimmee, we have enjoyed a close relationship over the last eight years. We know that Experience Kissimmee is always seeking new and innovative marketing opportunities to reach its key markets and spread the word about the destination.”
