Enter To Win: Team Recovered Money Giving Away Updated Baja 38 Special On Christmas Day – Speed on the Water

In four weeks, the fun-loving owner of Team Recovered Money—Indiana’s Nick Evans—is going to give away the team’s latest performance boat project. Actually it’s four weeks and one day, as Evans is going to announce the winner of the 1996-model-year Baja Marine .38 Special now dubbed Recovered Change on Christmas Day.

Evans and his wife, Christi, own the popular and well-traveled Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats 50-foot catamaran as well as a canopied 44-foot MTI that was formerly a Miss GEICO team raceboat. Last year, Evans renovated a 26-foot American Offshore catamaran and gave it away in June at the Lake Cumberland Thunder Run in Kentucky.

This time around, Evans scored a “garage find” 38-foot Baja—a model he’s been a fan of for many years—and enlisted several companies he’s worked with in the past to refurbish the V-bottom and complete its Recovered Change makeover.

Along with support from the team’s continued sponsors, JP Marine, Speedonthewater.com and WIA Marine Insurance, Evans turned the teams at Decked Out Factory in Osage Beach, Mo., for the wrap and marine mat, and Deno’s Upholstery and Detailing in Rockport, Ind., for the interior updates. Evans said he and his crew handled the necessary mechanical updates at his shop.

Project 38 Special, which is powered by twin 365-hp MerCruiser 454 Mag engines with 274 hours and Bravo One drives, also received a stereo system upgrade from KICKER Marine Audio that was installed by Twin Lakes Audio in McDaniel, Ky.

The Decked Out Factory handled the wrap on the 38-foot Baja.

“We’re so excited for this contest—we’ve put a lot into this boat and can’t wait to see where it ends up,” Evans said. “I’ve always wanted a .38 Special. I remember seeing a brand new one out there every weekend in Evansville many years ago and I thought it was the baddest boat on the water.

“I think this is the perfect giveaway boat, and, based on feedback, there are a lot of boaters out there who agree,” he added.

The team has a website set up where Project 38 Special T-shirts and hoodies can be purchased to get one entry (T-shirt) or two entries (hoodie) into the contest. Evans also encourages everyone who enters to subscribe to the Team Recovered Money YouTube channel or like the Facebook page to keep up with the team.
