Dirty Money Shop Planning To Test XINSURANCE South Pro Class 1 Raceboat Next Week

Led by crew chief Bobby Adams at Dirty Money Racing Marine Services in Stuart, Fla., the new Pro Class 1 XINSURANCE South team is hoping to test its 45-foot raceboat next week. As previously reported, the Dirty Money Super Cat-class team cockpit duo of throttleman Bill Pyburn and driver Brit Lilly will run the Victory cat, which was purchased from Class 1 great Steve Curtis and hauled to the Stuart facility in December.

Bobby Adams and the Dirty Money crew have been working on the 45-footer since it arrived at their shop.
Though Adams described the boat as being “pretty much turnkey” when the team acquired it, he and the Dirty Money crew have been inspecting and updating it since they received it. They have replaced its existing instruments with MoTeC USA screens, added a new GPS unit and a telemetry system and completely rewired the cockpit. The 45-footer came equipped with twin Mercury Racing 110 Comp engines—spec power for Pro Class 1—but Adams said he should have the new quad-cam turbocharged V-8s from the Fond du Lac, Wis., company in the shop this week.
The team has ordered new windshields that meet current standards for the class. The team also has ordered a new cockpit interior, including a new roll bar, from Jamie Borg at Cutting Edge Interiors.

Graphics will include Dirty Money orange accents.
“When it got here, I went through everything from the cockpit to the drives to the rudder,” Adams explained. “We might need to go with a little longer rudder, but we’ll learn more when we test. I even checked the rocker of the boat to make sure it is right for the way Bill will run it.”
“We replaced the 1100s in the boat with a pair we had, but we have new ones coming,” he added. “We replaced all the old-school gauges with the new MoTeC setup.”

According to Adams, XINSURANCE principal Rick J. Lindsey and his son, Parker, will capture the first test-session from Lindsey’s A-Star helicopter/video airship.
After the first test-session, Adams plans to completely strip the still-all-white cat and re-rig it. Its hull will be repainted charcoal-gray. The deck will be wrapped in XINSURANCE South graphics, though the team might paint the canopy in Dirty Money orange.
“We still have to install all the rear video cameras,” Adams said. “We also have a new 53-foot hauler coming for the boat.

Like the raceboat, the hauler will be wrapped in XINSURANCE graphics.
“I think we’ve made great progress,” he continued. “Now we have to go out and test and get some data.”
