Crypto Outerlimits Going On Spring Break In Southwest Florida

Most go-fast powerboat fans can identify the famed Crypto Outerlimits at a glance, yet relatively few have seen it in person. The 2018-model year canopied, Stephen Miles Design-painted 43-foot V-bottom from the Bristol, R.I., custom boat with just 20 operating hours on its Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines is, like its namesake currency, a bit mysterious.

But participants and their guests in this weekend’s Fort Myers Offshore Spring Break Fun Run—presented by Sunsation Boats—to Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda, Fla., will get an adult portion of the boat thanks to current owner Chuck Stark of South Carolina. Stark purchased Crypto—using traditional currency for the record—in November and as previously reported plans to campaign it in events around the country this season.

“I had hoped to have Crypto for the Fort Myers Offshore Holiday Fun Run and Joey Gratton Memorial New Years Day Fun Run but it wasn’t ready,” said Stark. “But I’m bringing it to the Fort Myers Offshore event this weekend. “

The 43-footer is one of 50 boats already signed up Saturday’s trek from the Sanibel Island Bridge to Burnt Store Marine for lunch at Cass Cay restaurant. On track for a record-breaking turnout, it is the sixth event in the nonprofit scholarship-fundraising organization’s 2023/2024 season.
