Cruisers Yachts Celebrates 70 Years
Cruisers Yachts has been celebrating 70 years all through 2023. Events and gatherings have taken place at Marine Max locations, and elsewhere. Also, a new plant expansion and new model development have taken place.
The Oconto, Wisconsin boat builder is widely known and respected. From humble roots, through several ownership changes and even through the ticking of time into a new century, the values and commitment to quality that permeates Cruisers Yachts have remained.
At Boating, we’ve been testing “Cruisers” ( a nickname, sometimes used, that refers to the early formation of the company) boat models since the early days of fiberglass production boatbuilding, before the sterndrive was even invented. We then conducted our Certified Boat Tests on a wide variety of boats powered by sterndrive and inboard power. We ran our first test of Volvo Penta’s IPS aboard a Cruisers Yachts almost 20 years ago. Then, in 2013, we honored the Cruisers Sport Series 328 as Boat of the Year, the highest award in recreational boating.

In recent years, our test team’s produced content about the GLS line of outboard-powered Cruisers Yachts models. And now, as 2024 approaches, and the builder begins its 71st year, we are looking forward to sea trials of a new flying bridge line of boats from the storied builder.
