Cowboy & Indian Summer Tour, Part VI—Enter The Back-Up Boat
Just before the start of last Friday’s lunch run—the first day of the fifth annual Rock The River Fun Run in the Cincinnati area—Kiran Pinisetti got antsy. No one, not even his dear friend Kelly O’Hara, enjoys running the DCB Performance Marine Cowboy & Indian-named M37R Widebody catamaran they co-own more than Pinisetti does. He works hard so he can play hard.

The low rumble created by the 65 go-fast boats around us was beginning to get to him. He shifted back and forth in the co-pilot’s seat of O’Hara’s 28-foot Axopar V-bottom. Every few seconds, he glanced from side to side at the surrounding boats.
Finally, Pinisetti couldn’t contain himself. “OK guys, I’m getting a really bad case of FOMO right now,” he said, belaboring the obvious.
O’Hara and I laughed. “You won’t if that thunderstorm predicted for the afternoon comes in,” O’Hara reminded him.
Like the 36-foot MTI catamaran O’Hara still owns in addition to the DCB, his Axopar is dressed in red, black and white hues. Unlike the 36-cat or 37-footer he shares with Pinisetti—it has an enclosed wheelhouse that offers complete protection from the elements.
A dairy farmer by trade, O’Hara pays attention to the weather better than most meteorologists. He knew the weather for the Rock The River Fun Run was likely to have few sketchy moments on Friday, particularly in the morning and possibly in the afternoon.
But that wasn’t the main reason he had the Axopar in tow when he arrived in Cincinnati. As previously reported, Pinisetti’s wife, Jessica, is running Cowboy & Indian with world champion tunnel-boat racer Shaun Torrente in the Lake of Ozarks Shootout. It could be pouring, as it was during much of last year’s Central Missouri event. Or it could be a steam-bath as the area usually is in late August. So he hauled the 28-footer from his home in Upstate New York to Cincinnati and on to Pinisetti’s Indiana home yesterday. Come Wednesday, they’ll split up and haul both boats to the Shootout.
FOMO relieved.
Either way, Jessica Pinisetti will have a “support boat” of sorts during the event, though in truth she doesn’t need special treatment. A top-notch equestrian who reportedly can throw a punch, she’s a lot tougher than most boating dudes.
Still, the Axopar is a good option to have.
For the record, her husband was able resolve his FOMO issue during the fun run the following day.
