Costa Sunglasses Advocates for the Environment at MIBS 2023
Costa Sunglasses is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
We grant them kudos for that achievement. But, we are more impressed by the commitment the company is showing to the future.
Costa’s longstanding Kick Plastic campaign, which has done much to alert the boating public to the prevalence of plastic bottles in our waters is just on example. If you have been to a big-city boat show in the last few years, you have likely seen the water-refilling stations and Costa branded refillable bottles in use by swarms of fellow show goers. Joining Costa’s Kick Plastic movement to reduce single-use plastics and raise awareness for ocean plastic pollution, Miami International Boat Show has pledged to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles. Costa Kick Plastic stations will be set up at key locations throughout the show, providing attendees with filtered-water and selling reusable Costa water containers.
Now, Kick Plastic, in itself, would be enough, one might say. But, Costa also sponsors waterway cleanups and other initiatives, including OneCoast, Costa Compete + Conserve and Costa TU 5 Rivers. Our contacts have this to say:
Outlined in Costa’s Protect Report, Costa Sunglasses has dedicated the past 40 years to preserving our oceans, waterways and fisheries. As an extension of its mission, Costa’s Conservation Village will focus on its leading cause initiatives (#KickPlastic and #OneCoast) and programs (Costa Compete + Conserve and Costa TU 5 Rivers). Located in Pride Park, directly outside the Convention Center, Costa’s Conservation Village will give attendees the opportunity to:
- brush up on ways Costa is supporting mission-aligned cause partners
- view the latest from Costa Films while relaxing in the lounge area
- try on Costa’s Untangled Collection of sunglasses and hats made from 97-100% recycled fishing nets
- rehydrate and refresh under cooled fans at the hydration station
- compete in Costa’s Cornhole for a Cause cornhole games benefitting conservation
- win Costa swag and raffle prizes
If you’d like to learn more about these environmental initiatives, what Costa is doing and how you can help you can visit them in the Costa Conservation Village in Pride Park.
