Clearwater ‘Nationals’ Registration Solid And Still Building – Speed on the Water

With less than two weeks remaining before the first green flag flies, 38 teams had registered for the Race World Offshore-produced Clearwater ‘Nationals’ as of this morning. The Southwest Florida contest set for September 22-24 is the final race of the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series produced by Race World Offshore and Powerboat P1.

The Super Stock class currently has eight teams signed up including Jackhammer, the defending Super Stock National Champion and current series points leader ahead of Allied Construction Management Systems and Coco’s Monkey.

“We are ready to try to win back-to-back national championships,” said Reese Langheim, the Jackhammer team’s owner and driver who shares the cockpit Julian Maldonado.

The Super Stock category could have 10 to 12 teams in the mix by the time registration closes this Sunday.

In the Super Cat ranks, the current registration count stands at just three teams but that total is likely to triple by race day. Among the teams that have yet to sign up but will is the M CON/Monster Energy outfit. The most current standings have M CON/Monster Energy—the defending national and world Super Cat champion—ahead of Valder Yachts/Pro Floors Racing and Graydel.

“Battling for a national championship to me is the pinnacle of offshore racing,” said Tyler Miller, the owner and throttleman of the M CON/Monster Energy team. “The blood, sweat and tears that go into a seven-race season and putting the team in a position to be national champions and maintain US-1 status is the highest of highs for all of us at M CON Racing. We Can’t wait to get to Clearwater and defend the title and—god willing—come out on top in 2023

Six teams currently are registered for the 450R Factory Stock class, which currently is led by driver Taylor Scism and throttleman John Tomlinson in TS Motorsports, a 39-foot MTI catamaran. In the Mod V ranks, four teams have signed up so far but more are sure to follow before registration shuts down. Two outfits—Team Farnsworth/Hancock Claims Consultants and Race Winning Brands—are registered in the V Extreme class, which typically runs with the 450R Factory Stock group.

The Bracket classes presently account for 10 teams. Of those categories, the largest so far is Bracket 500 with four boats, followed Bracket 200 with three boats.
