BAM Trail Pro-Am Tournament Pro Angler Information Sheet

BAM Trail Pro-Am Tournament
BAM expects its pro anglers to operate professionally, treat others with respect, and present themselves in a way that reflects well on their sponsors, the sport, and the BAM organization.
What is a Pro Angler’s Role?
As a pro angler, you control the boat, make fishing decisions, and compete against other pros. You are responsible for boat operation, fish care, safety, and creating a positive experience for your co-angler.
The Pro angler entry fee is $785 in BAM events.
See the all events and sign up at bamtrail.com
Important: BAM events are NOT shared weight tournaments.
Each angler — pro and co-angler — must catch their own fish to be weighed.
Co-anglers cannot assist in hooking, fighting, or catching your fish. However, they can assist in netting or landing a fish after it has been hooked.
Professionalism On & Off the Water
As a BAM Pro Angler, you should:
- Act professionally at all times — on and off the water.
- Treat your co-angler, tournament staff, sponsors, and fans with respect.
- Communicate openly, honestly, and with a positive attitude.
Dress Like a Pro
- Pro anglers are expected to dress professionally while fishing and especially on stage.
- Wear a clean, professional fishing jersey displaying your sponsors during weigh-ins and media coverage.
- Look the part — you are representing yourself, your sponsors, and BAM.
Remember: On stage is your spotlight — dress like the professional you are.
What Gear Should You Provide?
- Coast Guard approved life jackets for all passengers.
- Proper working boat and equipment (including livewells).
- Net available for landing fish.
- Enough tackle space for the co-angler’s gear (typically 5-7 rods & a small bag).
What to Expect on Tournament Day
Pairings
- Pairings will be sent via text message the night before the tournament.
- Contact your co-angler via call or text to:
- Introduce yourself
- Set a meeting time & location
- Discuss tackle needs or suggestions

- Share any special instructions or advice
Launching the Boat
-

Netting Fish – Communication is Key
-
Discuss netting expectations with your co-angler:
“Would you like me to net your fish, or would you like to do it yourself?”
-
You may assist in netting or landing their fish after they’ve hooked it.
Gas Money
- Co-anglers are expected to contribute to fuel/oil costs.
- Typical contribution is $60-$100 cash depending on distance run.
- Communicate this politely and professionally.
Final Tips for Being a Great BAM Pro Angler
- Be early, organized, and professional.
- Communicate throughout the day — boat positioning, casting angles, tackle changes, netting fish.
- Lead by example — in your behavior, preparation, and appearance.
- Treat your co-angler like a valued guest.
- Represent yourself, your sponsors, and BAM with pride.
